Carrots grow underneath the soil. They are actually the root of the plant! Here the soil is cut away so you can see what carrots look like underneath the ground before they are picked

Cucumbers grow along the top of the ground.

Oranges grow on trees above the ground!

Bananas also grow on trees and are green until they become ripe. Note that while on the tree they hang “upside down” from how you usually see them in stores. Also note that the pinkish/red thing hanging off the end of the branch is the banana tree flower!
